Southampton Business Expo

The Southampton Business Expo took place on Thursday 24th November 2016 at the Ageas Bowl

B2B Expos is part of the Memo Events Group – The UK’s leading exhibition organisers based in Basingstoke, Hampshire. Both were founded by serial entrepreneur and author, Matthew Larcome back in 2011, when he discovered a gap in the market for well organised and well-attended business events.

This free to attend event is a great way to raise brand awareness and meet with other businesses looking to grow and prosper in the area.

The show was a hive of positivity and it was a pleasure to meet and chat with lots of like minded people in business and see some familiar faces J

The exhibition offered seminars, keynote speakers and networking opportunities, along with a vast range of exhibitors from small independent business to the larger regional companies.

Situated on stand 22, Footprint had a 2m x 1m stand and as you can see the pink certainly made us stand out from the crowd. (picture attached) Myself, Hana Blackburn Elaine Huggett and Heather Todman had a fantastic day on the stand and even had some prosecco and prizes to offer visitors.

After a busy day networking and raising Footprint awareness we were even fortunate enough to WIN the Best Design Expo Stand 2016! (picture) We were thrilled with our achievement as it was our first ever exhibition but I can assure you it won’t be our last, we are already looking forward to our next in 2017!

Thank you to everyone that visited us on the day and apologies to those we didn’t get to speak with, please feel free to contact me/us with any enquiries

If you are considering exhibiting, the FOOTPRINT team would highly recommend doing this as it’s been extremely beneficial to our business as we have discovered. We have contacted the organisers regarding future events, visitors who are looking to do business, found local and new suppliers, started networking and ultimately getting good prices for a service and products.  Footprint South can assist with all your business requirements to from Flyers to expo stands and make you stand out from the crowd too.

Images for Web

Site Speeds

At Footprint South we’ve been building websites for many years and for a huge variety of businesses. The topic we always come across, is the usage and quality of images on websites.

With page and website speeds now affecting search engine rank results, it is important to take in consideration the amount of space and bandwidth images take on a modern website.

As statistics show from Kiss Metrics (kissmetrics.com), mobile phone users are encountering slow loading websites and there is a rising expectation that a website should load within 2 seconds or less. Page abandonment can become quite severe resulting in loss of earnings.

Picture173% of mobile internet users say that they’ve encountered a website that was too slow to load.

51% of mobile internet users say that they’ve encountered a website that crashed, froze, or received an error.

47% of consumers expect a web page to load in 2 seconds or less.

40% of people abandon a website that takes more than 3 seconds to load.

A 1 second delay in page response can result in a 7% reduction in conversions.

When so many potential conversions are being lost to your competitors due to slow loading pages, you may reconsider how images are used on your website.

The Mobile Web

With almost 80% of European internet users browsing on smartphones, serving the correct image size has become imperative to a smooth loading website. The introduction of responsive design has led to an increase in different image sizes for a huge range of mobile devices available today. Consider how an image will look on desktop computers as well as mobile devices.

Choosing images

Choosing images can make or break your website and brand, conveying the right idea at a glance is no easy feat, bad image choice has the potential to ruin your website in various way, negatively impacting your conversion ratio and credibility.

Taking time to choose the correct image is easy enough, but how do you identify the types of images your site requires? These simple categories can help make that decision:

  • Quality
High resolution, striking images always work best. Such images look impressive and display a professional element to your business.
When so many potential conversions are being lost to your competitors due to slow loading pages, you may reconsider how images are used on your website.

Images for Web

  • Actionable
Actionable images are call-to-action images, they persuade a visitor to take action. These images ensure that your customer has an action to take on your website, funnelling them towards your products and lowering the bounce rate of your site.

Images for Web

  • Unique
What if your brand’s offering services in a saturated market, and yet still wants to stand out? Your images must tell your target audience that you are different and why. Consider working with a photographer for custom high quality images.

Images for Web

  • Emotion
Some images have emotions baked into them and these are perfect for notching up the conversion rate of your website. Use images with emotion to connect with your customers and convey a sense of your company values.

Images for Web

  • Image to replace text
You must come across plenty of websites with text-heavy pages that do have images but they are not the centerpiece of the page. Users will most often scan text content looking for relevant information. Use images to highlight your services or main products.

Images for Web

On most occasions, designers don’t have specific instructions from the client regarding the use of images. Usually there is no budget set aside for stock images or a photographer, this leads to the use of free images that might be of low quality, irrelevant and ultimately damaging to your brand.

Images shouldn’t be used just as a decorative element. Think of an image as one of the key drivers of your website’s conversion rates, credibility and success; this will enable you to choose the right images and create a website you and your business can be proud of.

Print is not dead!

Footprint South know it is still very much alive and kicking… The world wide web is where we go to get answers

Here at Footprint South we have been hearing on the grape vine that print and printing is on a decline of this busy creative business world we all work in but let me reinforce this very quickly indeed as this statement is far from truth.

There are so many reasons why print and printing is very much alive and kicking in all areas especially here on the South Coast. We know all businesses use various types of print and printing as their primary marketing tools successfully with proven results.

Print still packs a punch with Footprint South.

Print is Tangible

Footprint South offers an experience for the senses that the world wide web can’t match. You can smell the ink, see the design, feel the paper/material and taste your success. A customer physically takes your eight page brochure with them and holds on to it and it is transformed into a travelling salesperson… (and no Wi-Fi is needed to access the information.)

Print is Effective

Customers increasingly overlook, delete, or mark email marketing as spam before reading any of it and everyone is on the band wagon. Not to mention everything that gets caught in those spam filters and junk folders – Your marketing emails that never quite get to the right mailbox. With printed mailing and promotional campaigns, your customers see it and believe it as it’s visual, its eye catching and draws them in to read and keep the product … It is proved that consumers do scan one side at the very least of any print products used and is put in front of them. Look and think of bill boards, banners, posters, signs, these are all effective printed products that catches your eye, draws you in and remain very popular indeed.

Print is Relatable

Do not be fooled in to thinking everyone uses the Internet as their top information source. Many established businesses do not target their audience just through the digital era. Exhibitions and events will never die in the digital era and all the information you see on the exhibitions stands including signage, maps, brochures, leaflets, cards, bags, free merchandise, vinyls, stickers, etc … everything had to be printed with the company logo and strap lines. Creating brand loyalty and continuity throughout.

Print is Self-sufficient

Print design stands without using any technology to the consumer. How many times have you wanted to do something on your phone when you don’t have a signal or Wi-Fi connection? Plus we all have those moments in life when we want to unplug, turn off the computer, tablet and mobile phones, just to have a break preferring to engage with print material – magazines, books, light reading material or even communicate with other people.

Print is Useful

Using print for direct mailing campaigns can include your company logos and strap lines on magnets, rulers, umbrellas, cups, stationery items, wallet cards, Calendars, mouse mats and many more items. This leaves the customer with something useful and a permanent point of reference of your company leading them back to you easily and consistently.

Print is Creative

Print design and artwork with flair. Catching customers through effective visual design creates more opportunities than you realise. The limitations are endless with design. It is within our own minds when we fail to conceive and design outside the box. Print is an opportunity to create an experience for your audience. Print Creativity options of folds, foils, gloss, spot UV and die cuts are just a few exciting ways to make your print products stand up and stand out.

Print is green(ish)

Often overlooked by us all the use of Digital’s do have a negative environmental impact. As such as those, from producing and disposing of electronic devices. Print has a one-time carbon footprint, while digital media requires energy each time it’s viewed. Printed material is more easily recycled and less toxic than electronic devices. And we can use recycled materials for your range of printed products too.

Print is Complementary

If you combine the power of print and digital marketing together and place this in front of your customer multiple times you are guaranteed results. Multiple marketing combination ensures success, so use the best of both worlds to reach your target audience and get results.

So you see I set you a challenge, just see how many printed products and materials you are using in your business right now, I suspect you have so many that you didn’t even realise. Do they need updating, revamping, new designs, and new strap lines in order to get your business noticed.

So I can conclude print, printing, design and artwork is very much alive with Footprint South and we are here to help you create, visual affordable solutions using print products effectively and that get your business noticed.

Our friendly knowledgeable staff are here to help you create that striking marketing campaign that will make sure stand out from the crowd.

Footprint South creating effective affordable print and design solutions so your business gets results.
